Sustainable Brands 2024 Tokyo-Marunouchi

In February 2024, the 8th Sustainable Brands 2024 Tokyo-Marunouchi, one of the largest international conferences in Asia on the theme of "sustainability", was held at the Tokyo International Forum to promote a sustainable society.
Companies and organizations from Japan and abroad shared their latest initiatives and trends and promoted networking under the theme of REGENERATING LOCAL.
In tandem with the conference, various plans were implemented to contribute to the revitalization of the Marunouchi area, incorporating novel ideas, such as holding free seminars for Local workers, creating opportunities to interact with conference participants, and utilizing the Cotton Club as a party venue for VIPs for the first time.
In collaboration with restaurants and at each venue, various initiatives were prepared to connect conference participants with the Marunouchi area, including catering and special menus based on the theme of food sustainability and the distribution of lunch coupons to participants. Furthermore, related events were held at a book shop Maruzen and a design gallery “ GOOD DESIGN MARUNOUCHI”, providing opportunities for the local community to gain a deeper understanding of sustainability.
In collaboration with Mitsubishi Estate, a member of DMO Tokyo Marunouchi, a digital map connecting the conference venues which was available at all times was created as a guidance tool for the event. Extensive hospitality for the convenience and satisfaction of participants was evident throughout, including the distribution of coupons to those who cooperated in the survey.
To promote the event throughout the area, 10,000 copies of “FRaU S-TRIP,” a free newspaper highlighting the sustainable initiatives implemented in the Marunouchi area were published and distributed in conjunction with the international conference.

Japan Fintech Festival 2024

Japan Fintech Week 2024, organized by the Financial Services Agency, was held in March 2024.
The Japan Fintech Festival, held for the first time at Kanda Myojin as part of the event, was a resounding success. The venue was filled with excitement and a diverse group of participants from over 50 countries attended. A memorable fusion of fintech and Japanese culture made for an unforgettable experience.
The selection of Kanda Myojin, made with overseas participants in mind, was one of the major factors behind the success of the event.
Thanks to collaborations with approximately 60 restaurants in the Marunouchi area, the destination was transformed into a networking environment where participants could enjoy the Marunouchi area after the conference. Government officials and business leaders from around the world discussed the future of the fintech industry and unique Japanese experiences on offer included a surprise speaker dressed in a kimono, a samurai show at Kanda Myojin, and a visit to the shrine for VIPs. To ensure a comfortable experience for event participants, DMO Tokyo Marunouchi's membership network was utilized to smoothly arrange accommodations for VIP attendees at the Tokyo Station Hotel.
Advertisements throughout the Marunouchi area raised awareness of the event and information was actively disseminated to local residents, enlivening the entire community with event management receiving high praise.
Thanks to these various ingenious efforts, the Japan Fintech Festival provided an interactive forum for the future possibilities of the fintech industry in Japan and around the world.

DMO Tokyo Marunouchi Day

In October 2023, DMO Tokyo Marunouchi Day, a reception party commemorating the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the association, was held on the roof of the Science Museum located in Kitanomaru Park adjacent to the Imperial Palace. The event was a great success, attracting approximately 150 representatives from the MICE industry and event planners from global companies.
To ensure that DMO Tokyo Marunouchi can accommodate future major MICE events, member companies joined together to prepare for this event as an area-wide effort. The event was characterized by its unique location in the Imperial Palace Outer Gardens and by its consideration of the environment.
The rooftop of the Science Museum in Kitanomaru Park was used for the first time as a demonstration of its attractions as a unique MICE venue.
The nearby Marunouchi Street Park on Marunouchi Naka-dori Street was also utilized for the event and was repurposed to create a beautiful contrast between the high-rise buildings of the city center and the greenery of the Imperial Palace Outer Gardens.
In addition to taking all possible measures to comply with food sanitation standards, environmental efforts like CO2 emission reduction, food loss reduction and the elimination of plastics were also implemented.
The event featured numerous ways for each participant to experience Marunouchi, such as special menus provided by member hotels, giveaways, and souvenirs, serving as an opportunity for DMO Tokyo Marunouchi to showcase the appeal of each member company as well as the unity and hospitality of Team Marunouchi. The International Conference on Nutrition

In December 2022, set in the Tokyo International Forum, the International Conference on Nutrition was held in Japan for the first time in 47 years, and attracted more than 3,300 participants from 111 countries.
Conference attendees were provided with lunch coupons that could be used at restaurants in the vicinity of the conference venue, and a special website introducing more than 250 restaurants eligible for the coupons was created with dietary diversity in mind, including the ability to select vegetarian-friendly restaurants. In addition, "Hitomachi Ambassadors," who are active in the local community, were appointed to guide visitors to the lunch coupon stores and provide sightseeing information on the surrounding area.
Street flags were displayed along Marunouchi Naka-dori Street during the event, decorating the Marunouchi streetscape and bringing the excitement of the MICE event to the whole area. The flags were scheduled to be upcycled as an environmentally friendly initiative.
Other events related to fermented foods, which are attracting attention from around the world, were also held. As a cultural program for participants, we held two fermentation seminars with fermentation experts and cookery researchers. On the last day of the conference, an excursion to Sawara City, Chiba Prefecture, a city where a lot of fermentation takes place, was organized. The excursion included a lecture on sake brewing and fermentation by a chief brewer, French cuisine using fermented foods, and a kotatsu (heated table, seated) boat ride through the streets of Sawara, also known as Koedo, which was very well received.
