The Otemachi, Marunouchi and Yurakucho areas are located in central Tokyo. They provide convenient access to Tokyo Station, and many others. Major companies in and outside of Japan have been integrated to make this area the focal point of economic activity as an international business center. DMO TOKYO Marunouchi is an organization that aims to revitalize Marunouchi through MICE that bring all sorts of people together, and it has assembled top-class resources, including hotel meeting facilities and unique venues, in the heart of the Metropolis. DMO TOKYO Marunouchi and its community look forward to welcoming clients as a major pillar of urban-style business events, and so utilize its recourses in the best possible way.
This beautiful area with its well laid-out street plan centered on Marunouchi Naka-dori Avenue, the historic Tokyo Station Building, and abundant greenery, including the Outer Gardens of the Imperial Palace, which extend along the entire western side of the area, is attracting many MICE participants.

Annual Conference

From October 19 to 24, 2014, the Annual Conference of IBA was held in Tokyo at the Tokyo International Forum as the main venue. Using multiple facilities in the area, such as the Tokyo International Forum, Tokyo Kaikan, and Imperial Hotel, enabled the area to host this large-scale international conference. The DMO TOKYO Marunouchi initiative is used for this conference; for example, setting up an open café and other facilities on Marunouchi Naka-Dori Street and using part of the outdoor terrace as a reception space on weekday evenings during the period of the conference. A music concert and cultural experience were held in the space. Conference participants received a map with coupons introducing MICE-related facilities (such as shops) in the Marunouchi area.
With this international conference, a system to proactively make use of local space for MICE events has been created.

DMO Roppongi was established by private companies, hotels, and other organizations operating in the neighborhood of Roppongi, a cosmopolitan, leading area.
The Roppongi area boasts many facilities that serve a variety of purposes, including academic facilities where conferences of business companies and academic meetings can be held, luxury hotels that can accept incentive tours, and unique venues. These facilities are located close to each other, permitting a large convention to be held using more than one of these facilities at the same time.
In addition, DMO Roppongi provides various one-stop services including accommodation services and the organization of parties and activities, as well as facilities needed for meetings and conferences.

Advertising Week Asia2019

In May 2019, Advertising Week Asia 2019 was held at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi. This international event has been held in and around Tokyo Midtown since 2016. It is a large-scale event attended by a total of over 10,000 people annually. The participating corporations are mostly advertising companies, media companies, and tech companies, and many persons in charge of marketing at business companies can be seen visiting the venue. The conferences and sessions were mainly held in Tokyo Midtown Hall & Conference, but a broad range of other facilities within the area were used during the event, with networking taking place in the restaurants inside Tokyo Midtown, receptions held at the Tokyo American Club, and the Welcoming Party on the first day held in the hall of the Suntory Art Museum.

Welcome for educational trip

In August 2017, TCVB organized to educational trip for Meeting Planners (MPs) from Asia. Through inspections of hotels, a visit to Fuji Television Network, Inc., Tokyo’s environment work, unique venues, and cultural experiences. TCVB showcased the Tokyo waterfront area’s appeal to the MPs as a new suggested venue for MICE. This tour was also a trial that served as a foothold for establishing a MICE resort in Tokyo. The community of walterfront is welcome to inspection group to introduce full of tresure of MICE contents.

AG/SUM2019

“AG/SUM”, a global event that aims to help agriculture make the leap to a growth industry by shining a spotlight on the front lines of “agritech”, a fusion of agriculture and technology, was held in Roppongi for the second straight year in 2019. AG/SUM is an all-around convention that includes a symposium that attracts agriculture specialists and start-up founders from throughout Japan and overseas and also provides a place for corporations to exhibit the state-of the-art agritech products they have developed, while creating a space for networking. The Market held in a 1,500 m2 roofed plaza was an event attended not only by AG/SUM participants but also by people who work nearby and ordinary shoppers, making AG/SUM an event well integrated with the local community.

Event for supporting female entrepreneurs from foreign companies

An event for supporting female entrepreneurs was held at Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in May 2017. It is an annual women-only event that is held in a variety of countries. The event held in Japan attracted 500 participants from foreign companies operating globally. The participants deepened their networks through a lecture meeting, a convivial party, and other opportunities during the four-day event.
On the final day, a matching party was held with Japanese entrepreneurs by reserving the entire floor of Happo-en. The party allowed the 1,500 participants to create significant business opportunities.
Both Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa and Happo-en have a large Japanese garden, which gave participants a sense of traditional Japanese culture.

International Conference

An international conference was held at a hotel in Hachioji. The staff worked on various ideas so that the participants could get a sense of the special atmosphere of Hachioji. For example, the staff wore traditional Happi coats to welcome the participants, and sent them on their way with the help of ladies dressed as Hachioji Geisha. The staff suggested Tokyo Kokeshi dolls, made in Hachioji, as a souvenir for the organizers. They also arranged a tour of the dolls’ production site to help further understanding of this traditional Hachioji industry. The view of Mt. Fuji at dusk was also greatly admired by the international participants.

Tachikawa is a city that has a variety of facilities such as commercial shopping complexes, offices, and hotels, and has compact, safe, and convenient urban functions. While the area around Tachikawa Station is bustling, a stone’s throw away from the station plaza reveals the vast sky and greenery of the grand Showa Kinen Park, creating a relaxing space that lets you forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Entertainment city Shibuya always captivates people from a wide range of backgrounds as a place where new culture and entertainment are born, and it has generated and disseminated new types of culture one after another. From December 11th through 15th, 2019, 40 entertainment and technology corporations from the Canadian province of Quebec (150 people) held a booth exhibit in Shibuya along with an invitation-system meeting, symposium, and reception. Under the banner “This is Quebec”, a festival of Quebec-grown music and technology was held with ticketed admission to various exhibits, live music, and shows, and a MUTEK.jp event was jointly held in the anticipation of visits by members of the general public. By utilizing Shibuya River and other outdoor space as a unique venue, it was possible to hold a successful event with over 7,500 visitors.

The Hamamatsucho/Takeshiba/Shibaura area is brimming over with downtown highlights like temples, shrines, gardens, public park greenery, and the waterfront of Tokyo Bay. Edo Yakai(Evening Party)

Edo Yakai(Evening Party) was held biannually in the summer and autumn for 2 years running at the Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden. This light-up event mixes creativity with advanced technology to bring out the charms of night views of Japanese gardens and historical landmarks with a traditionally Japanese flavor. The trees and lanterns in gardens that are designated cultural assets are thrown into beautiful relief by spotlights and projection mapping, making it possible to enjoy a new kind of Japanese culture along with the background music. Stalls that purvey Japanese-style food and sake are present in the garden along with seating. This MICE event showcases a symbiosis of new technologies and culture.
